On 29 June we opened the doors of the Limmatfeld residential development. In the seven individual buildings, 159 apartments were built for the BEP Baugenossenschaft des Eidgenössischen Personals (Building Cooperative of the Swiss Federal Staff) and 61 apartments for the NEST Collective Foundation. Residents start moving in from mid-July.
Here we go! On the site of the former glassworks in Bülach Nord, 550 new apartments will be built for around 1,700 residents by 2022. Altogether there will be 20 predominantly 6-storey buildings. The ground-breaking ceremony took place today.
On 25 May we invited you to visit the completed student house in Basel’s Erlenmatt quarter. The house is run by the WoVe and offers space for 99 students who will live in 16 shared flats.
Apartments of the building society Baugenossenschaft des eidgenössischen Personals (BEP) can now be reserved. Occupation will start in August 2019.
The two houses of the NEST Collective Foundation at the Limmatfeld will be completed this summer. Letting of the apartments has already started.
The apartments and commercial units in the WALO Haus at Limmatstrasse 73 in Zurich will be ready for occupancy by the end of 2019. Letting has started.
The 14-hectare Hilgenfeld building area on the Frankfurter Berg is being developed by the City of Frankfurt and ABG Frankfurt Holding as a residential estate with around 850 rental apartments. Seven teams were invited to participate in a competition for affordable and high-quality housing projects on the four construction sites. Our concept for construction site 3 won 1st prize.
We are happy about the 1st prize in the competition for the new housing development at the Lichtenauerweg in Hamburg. Our proposal is an open and permeable residential development as a strong and at the same time distinctive urban figure. With a versatile sequence of outdoor spaces, our design creates a varied quarter for the new residents.
From 24 November 2018 to 5 May 2019 the exhibition ‘Dichtelust – Forms of Urban Coexistence in Switzerland’ will be on view at the S AM. The exhibition refutes these irrational arguments and demonstrates the real meaning of density: the thoughtful and compact utilisation of buildable territory. It examines different forms of historical density and contemporary redensification. We are represented in the exhibition with the Glasi-Areal project.
More and more people in Switzerland want to live as centrally as possible. The cities must be densified. However, more people also generate more traffic, and thus noise. The problem – living where it’s loud – and the answer of the architects were presented in a report in the “10vor10” TV programme.
On October 26th, we invited to our big office party. It was great to celebrate with so many guests!
Anne Kaestle appeared as a speaker at the 14th Alvar Aalto Symposium in Jyväskylä, Finland. The international symposium has taken place every three years since 1979, its aim being the exchange of ideas on contemporary architectural topics. The focus of this event was ‘New Housing Solutions for Cities in Change’.
